[The video feed shows Ritz, sitting near the water in Cherrygrove. Something large and very blue is nudging her- anyone who knew Ritz's old team might recognize this as Andre, her Gyarados. She also has something fairly large and teal nuzzling up to her, and just seems to be the center of a four-pokemon cuddlepile while wrapped around a fairly distinct harp.]

Guess it's my turn, huh? Just sucks that I didn't get to at least meet up with him again before he left.

[She's looking up and staring at the Gear for a moment, tilting her head.] Exodus, you don't have hands, how in the- you know what, nevermind.

To anyone watching this, I'm pretty sure Kuja's gone. I dunno if he'll be back or what, but I have a couple of his pokemon and some of his stuff.

He must be, yes. I found Bahamut the Flygon in my PC this morning.

....wonderful. [Ritz is setting the harp aside to kind of cling to the Nidorina next to her. She'd normally care more about seeming strong, but this... kind of sucks.]

Are many of his Pokémon still missing?

I have a couple- Titania and Tiamat. I'm not sure where the others are, but it's still pretty soon after... I can think of a couple people who might have some of his pokemon.

Should I hear anyone mention them, I could always tell you.

I'd like that. Thanks. [Ritz is just going to bury her face- carefully- against Adelle.]

...There's always a chance he'll come back.

Yeah, I know. Doesn't make me miss him any less, though.

I doubt there is much that can help with that, for now.

Time, probably. It helps that I have some of my old team back, and a couple of his. You know, he gave me Adelle while I was busted up from the tournament a while back. [The Nidorina in question just presses closer to Ritz.]

So you would have some company as you healed?

Yeah. He was busy working during a lot of that, too.

Simply to pay the bills, or towards a particular goal?

Paying the bills when he could have just left, really. I mean, the original reason we teamed up was because his starter was... kind of useless, but he did have a team that could keep him safe by that point.

Having a strong team is no reason for travelling alone, especially if you already have pleasant company.

...He's gone?

[Oh. He shakes his head and sighs.]

He's still always coming and going as he pleases, huh?

Yeah, he is. I got Titania and Tiamat from his team, and a few of mine that I guess went to him when I left. [She's glad to have Brenda, Andre, Mathis, and Adelle back.] You know, he gave me Adelle and taught her some pretty interesting tricks while I was laid up? While he was taking care of me, and working.

Oh...

[He rubs the back of his head, thinking about it.] He did? That's awfully...nice of him.

[Which is weird for him to say, but it had sounded like he might've changed. Of course, that was a good thing though.]

[Ritz is snorting softly.] You know, if you're tapdancing around how he used to be a lot less nice? You can stop.

His starter was a Feebas that looked practically undead when he got it. You know what he named it? Karma.

[Oh. Ouch. She's blunt.] No, no I didn't mean for it to come out like that. I mean...he really did change. It's nice to know.

[Even though he didn't get to know him all that well.

...Ah. He doesn't even really know what to say about the whole Feebas thing, at all. So he might look just a little uncomfortable.]

[Yes, yes she is.] Yeah. It's weird you don't remember- I mean, there was a point where I was kind of... in a coma, or something, and you guys were taking care of me.

It's kind of funny- some of what he used to do when he wasn't... as pleasant? Actually made him a better friend.

Really? I was there too? [He frowns slightly.] I wish I remembered everything...

What do you mean by that?

Yep! [Ritz is frowning a little, too. That is weird.]

Well... there was stuff that I talked to him about, stuff from home, that... kind of seemed weird to me? And I guess because of how he did things, he had some really good advice on how to deal with it.

I'm glad that he gave you some good advice. [Wow...] I'm sorry if I sound surprised - if I am, it's just not really how I knew him. Sure, he was starting to change at home, but...

[Yeah.]

Yeah. I think the funniest part was that it was him basically going "well in that situation, I would be doing this thing, so here's how you get around it". [Ritz is smiling.]

It's a good thing, right? And-- it's not like any of my friends from home were here, and even if they were... a lot of them are my age. They're not really good people to talk to about stuff like-- oh, how bad it is that maps were kind of weird to me.

Huh. Well that's something.

[He nods, just listening to her for a minute before getting curious.] Why're maps weird? Can I ask?

Because learning about what was outside of your hometown wasn't exactly.... something people wanted to happen. There was pretty much- unless something really weird happened- this attitude that you were born in, and died in, your home town.

[Ritz is smiling crookedly.]

...That sounds like it sucked. Not being able to learn about the outside world? That's what makes things interesting, doesn't it?

*Hikari blinks, looking on the video and seeing quite the familiar face.*

Ritz! When did you get back?

*And wait, did she get back just to loose a friend? That had to... that definitely wasn't good.*

Hey, you alright?

Mm, not too long ago. The... eighth, I think.

[Ritz shrugs a little, but she's still clinging to her pokemon.] It sucks, but I'll be fine. It's not like he's dead, or there's no chance of seeing him again. I came back, didn't I?

Wow, I can't believe I didn't see you here back then...

And I guess you have a good point. But loosing people that you care about here still hurts...

Yeah, but compared to some of what I've been through, it's not that bad.

... Okay, I can't disagree with you on that. It's the same for me.
